It is commonly used as an additive in the food, supplement and pharmaceutical industries to prevent ingredients from sticking together.

Due to the extremely high melting point, Silicon dioxide is also used in the manufacturing of electronics in products such as fiber optic cables, semi-conductors, and insulation for wires.
